| What's New This Week In The Racing World |
| FEBRUARY 27TH, 2007 THE WEEKLY SMACK BY DJ RADANOVICH Matt Kenseth swept at California for the second time in his career, but as he was running away with the race NASCAR had another phantom debris yellow with 25 laps remaining, once again trying to control the outcome of the race from the tower. I don't know about you, but I find California to be probably the worst race as far as excitement on the Nextel Cup Schedule. NASCAR, please bring back Rockingham, or at least North Wilkesboro. Judging by all of the empty seats at California you have managed to strike out with this facility. With yet another strong performance this week, Mark Martin finds himself at the top of the Nextel Cup Standings. He may want to reconsider running the full schedule. On the flip side, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was hoping for a better 2007 but is 40th in points. Ouch! Not a way to start the season. Both DEI cars have struggled so far this season and maybe Teresa Earnhardt should listen to what her drivers are telling her - GET OUT! Every team needs an owner at the track. How can you run a business and not be there? Well, some great news from the Ohio racing world: there is a new track outside of Cincinnati opening. The Moler Raceway Park, a 1/4 mile dirt track, will feature Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Chevettes every Friday night starting March 30th (see flyer at right). Best wishes to the Moler family and may all your dreams be wonderful. It's nice to see a track opening instead of closing. More good news: the Bentfenders.com Fan Forum is up and running. Now you can chat with other race fans from all around. Please don't be shy and use the Fan Forum for fun, that's what it's here for. But please, keep it clean as it is a forum for all race fans. And more good news: fellow race car driver and old friend of the Bentfenders.com family Rick Elkins, Jr. is getting married! Rick has left Ohio to work as a fabricator at Ray Evernham Motorsports in Statesville, North Carolina. Rick was always a great driver and even a better fabricator. Best wishes Rick from all of us at Bentfenders.com. As many of you may already know, the Sprints will be returning to the Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway this year. They will co-headline the weekly race schedule with the Super Late Models. I have a feeling the stands will be packed every week at Wayne County this summer. And the best news of all: some Ohio race fans are a little more than a month away from opening night. Below is the opening night schedule for Ohio race tracks.
