July 3rd, Midvale, OH

After a long rain delay and several beers, the fine folks at Midvale held true
to their promise to get the races in Monday night at the 3/10th's mile bullring.
The Main Event Racing Series brought twenty six Super Late Models to the
track as the pits was filled with the track regulars as well.  Racing filled the air
as the fans and the drivers was ready for the biggest event that Midvale holds
all year.

Rich Rohrer and John Crumrine set the pace for the Downtown Ford 100
and Rohrer immediately took the lead with Crumrine and Don Harvey close
behind.  After several cautions, Crumrine never let Rohrer out of his cross
hairs, but would soon be eliminated with an oil leak.  Don Harvey would inherit
second, but never presented a challenge as Rohrer went on to take his
fourteenth win in the Main Event Series.  Following Rich to the stripe was Don
Harvey, Jr., Scott Baker, Gary Whipkey, and Mike Miller.  Rohrer and crew
desperately needed this win after bad luck hampered their efforts at Lorain and
Kil-Kare.  This win should catapult Rohrer into the top five in the points.

Virgil Ravenscroft and Randy Smart brought the field down for the Sport
Stock feature, and a turn one crash hurt the chances for the bentfenders.com
car of Chris Kail.  Kail would continue only to blow a radiator hose going into
turn three a few laps later.  It made me sick as I really wanted to see Chris do
well because I don't get many chances to see him race.  Oh well, maybe again
in a few weeks.   Keith Thomas tore through the field and took home his third
feature win of the season.  With Kevin McClintock going out after the first lap
crash, Thomas has closed the gap on the points lead.

Todd Miller and Rich Schweitzer set the pace for the Papa John's Pure
Stock feature, but Joe Oliver made a great three wide move going into turn
three and never looked back taking the win in his first start of the season.
Fastest qualifier Doug Decker hunted Oliver down, but time ran out on Decker.
I don't know if Decker had the car to pass Oliver, as catching and passing is
two different things.  Following Oliver to the stripe was Doug Decker, Chester
McMasters, Todd Miller, and Tory Gibbs.

Tad Grove, Brad Henry, and Mark Willison, Jr. took home the compact
feature wins.

Next week the bentfeders crew will be at Lake Erie Speedway in North East,
PA for the Nascar East series (formerly the Nascar North Series).  As usual, I
am having difficulty with a new camera, so the pictures from Midvale will be
added soon!  Sorry for the inconvenience.
