This weeks update comes to you from the frozen tundra at Mansfield
Motorsports Speedway and the USAR HOOTERS PRO CUP series. It was a
very windy cold evening but the racing on the track was full of action. I've been
a fan of the Hooters pro cup series for several years now and its a great
division for asphalt talent to hone there skills. The USAR series always
provides lots of action, side by side racing and of course a good share of
mangled sheet metal. This week was no different with an impressive 38 car
field I was sure there was gonna be lots of action. There was plenty of passing
going on in the 38 car field from the leaders all the way back it was difficult to
focus on one area of the track, as soon as you did you had action somewhere
else. It's my opinion the Jay Foggelman had the fastest car but just couldn't get
the pass done when he needed it. Last years series champion Benny Gordon
and the 66 machine looked good early but cut a tire down and after that didn't
seem to recover and finally ended up making contact with Mardy Lindley on a
restart and ended Bennys night. The 20 machine of Shelby Howard driving for
Tony Stewart Motorsports and the 44 of Clay Rogers had a great Battle for it
seems at least 100 laps. Both drivers drove very clean with Clay Rogers finally
bringing home the victory for the second week in a row. To anybody who
enjoys asphalt stock car racing I highly recommend catching a Hooters race,
you wont be disappointed. - Davis
